Open Mics Lame Even The Dishwasher Gets Paid

I don't get why people play these open mics. The bar owners are using YOU for free entertainment. They hope you will show up with your 3 friends and buy drinks. They don't care if you're great or if you suck. They want warm bodies with cash to buy drinks. That's all.
You invest money in your gear, spend time learning your craft and PAY(buy drinks) to play to your 3 friends and the other musicians who get suckered into this shit. And the other performers could and their friends couldn't care less about hearing you play your shitty rendition "Creep". The least these owners could do is comp a few drinks to the performers.
I mean, come on, even the dishwasher gets paid and he didn't have to bring his own towels(gear), invite his friends or spend time learning how to dry streak-free.
