Greetings, and a happy Hump Day to you all...
We have a great evening planned tonight @ Volume 11, with featured showcase band 2nd Law, bringing their special brand of kick ass hard rock to the stage @ 10 pm... it also looks like we will also have a few
new bands make their debut at out weekly event...
as always, doors open and signup for the open mic begins each Wednesday @ 5:30... the open mic runs from 6:20 til 9:00 pm (each slot 20 minutes), and the showcases run from 9:00 pm til 11:45 pm (45 minutes per slot)... all times are approximate, i.e. "musicians standard time"... lol...
if you're interested in an upcoming showcase slot, let us know ASAP, we'll get you in the mix... we have a couple of openings in February and and most of March available...
we will provide a drum kit, mid-size PA w/ monitors, mics and stands for the open mic and showcases...
NOTE: we encourage you to bring your amps if possible, but won't turn you away if you only bring your instrument (in that event, you can use our gear)... you can even bring your drums if you'd like, just remember setup and breakdown time is included in your set...
we had an great time last week, with many new faces in the crowd... let's keep it going again next week, the week after and for months to come...

Popular Open Mic at Dilly's Sports Bar, hosted by the Bender brothers, Byron and Barry. Music performance and listening area is separate from TV screens. Great PA, stage area w/lights.
The musical fun begins at 9:00pm & continues until 12. A Line 6 comb
o guitar amp, Acoustic bass amp and 150 watt PA system w/ 3 microphones are available for your use while performing. Please bring your own instruments but you may borrow a Yamaha Tele, if you like. Acoustic soloists and duos generally perform first, a full drum kit arrives by 10pm, and then acoustic or electric sets follow. An open jam typically ends the evening.
All genres of music are welcome (rock, blues, folk, alternative, metal, singer-songwriter, etc.) Bring your band or come solo. Sign up early (spots often gone within 1st hour) for 3 songs or 15 minute set. . ..longer, if time permits. The house rhythm section will back you up, if you like, and may lead the jam at the end of the evening. Dilly's Open Mic is novice-friendly and a great place to meet fellow musicians, try out your music on a live audience or rehearse for your next gig.
Last week we had an awesome mix of regular and new performers. Jam Rapster, a self-described autistic rapper, entertained all with his interesting and insightful observations. Guitarist/vocalist duo Lisa Fraser and Casey Thomas played a wonderful set of tunes from Supie Wallace to Al Green. Guitarist /vocalist duo the Golden Sunbirds, Mike Sprigo and Gary Krutsinger entertained all with their space-themed musical silliness. Bluesman Jeff Dayne played a few soulful tunes accompanied by the house rhythm section, Barry on drums and Byron on bass.
Mary Mac returned packin' her banjo and wit, accompanied by Andre Idzardi on bass, Barry on drums and Allen Berg on guitar. Jason flexed his tenor voice to deliver awesome Eagles favorites and others accompanying himself on guitar. Tom Ryan played a great set of his original songs accompanied by Andre, Barry and Byron on lead guitar....."If Everybody Smiled". . .they did!
The night ended with a jam. Everybody got to play and had fun. Thank you musicians!

Thanks for another great Open Mic at the Hideout Bar in Fuquay. We had two great bands down there and a few solo musicians.
Ken Young band rocked the house and had quite a following.
Second Law took the stage later in the evening and played a solid
hard rock set.
Andy Coltrane was in the house and got up and ripped some killer leads. Shaun from Second Law joined me for a few acoustic ones.
Hoping to get a good crowd on Feb 4 and Feb 18 (next two open mics). FSM will play on 2/18...need some acts for 2/4.

Last week we were dazzled with the
arrival of Ray and his fab drumkit and drumming....Ray is imminently flexible and accompanied a variety of players in numerous styles and generously let Ben sub on a number of tunes. Joe joined in on bass and piano together with the guitars of Steve and Henri. Lots of fun tunes with Harmonica Mike blowing on many giving a gravelly edge and soul. Jana flew in to take over the piano with some dazzling boogie woogie and blues and Rich followed to do some cool solo work....the evening carried on in this vein with players joining in and out of their favorite songs, not to mention some serious jamming......
Next week, Panet Granite are dropping down from NH to play a set to be followed by an evening of participation by all comers!
This is an ideal situation to "give it a try"....if you haven't performed for a while and want some backup , or want to try out some new material, toss your inhibitions and join us....the audience is very appreciative.
