Hi,
I'm looking for someone who'd be interested in singing a few rock standards at an open-mic on the eastside. The goal is simply to get some experience performing in front of people.
We're a drummer and guitarist (and tentatively, a bassist ) who t
ook up music later than most (we're currently late 30's early 40's). We're looking to take the next step in our musical growth and play in front of people in an informal setting. We're targeting a local open-mic that allows full "bands" to play to a supportive audience of fellow musicians and regulars. This venue has a full backline and caters to classic rock, though other styles turn up as well.
In any case, we're reasonably proficient with our instruments and I'd like to think that we'll make a good sound in support of your singing. We're not looking for or expecting a AAA voice, but someone who can at least carry a tune with confidence.
We don't care how old you are, what you look like or if you're male or female. Female rockers are highly encouraged, as it opens up a whole range of standards (think 70s arena rock) that male vocalists usually can't touch ( at least in the song's recorded key ) -- but we'll take what we can get.
I'd like to think this is a very low pressure, low commitment opportunity for someone who's not ready or able to commit to being in "a band", but nonetheless wants to experience singing/playing with live musicians, in public (and without having to pay a music school fee).
